Enugu communities cry out over prepaid meter

       The current installation of prepaid meters to transformers in local communities has been described by members of such communities as another nightmare to recession. Many have expressed their disappointment in such arrangement. "This couldn't have been the right time, not like any time is right for extortion but now people are battling to have food on their table" one said
         If our voices can be heard then something ought to be done either to enlighten the communities about prepaid meter and its benefits or unistalling them for now.
        One of the villagers disclosed to me that after two days of having light with #50,000 recharge of the prepaid meter that they have not seen light for over two weeks. A woman from Umuagama Community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government of Enugu state, also expressed her dissapointment in the current situation and termed it "corrushion" (corruption) she said they just want to eat our money, she further confirmed it to us that the last tme they saw light was over two weeks ago.

    Prepared meter is just to regulate the bill, I believe it will create job for some people and also take some peoples job as there will be no need to cut the wire. If your power credit finishes, power goes off immediately. We use it here in Abuja and it costs us 2k every month cos we minimize the use of appliances that require high voltage to operate like Air condition, Electric iron, electric boiler de chop credit like craze.

    So in a nut shell, prepared meters measures and costs the power we consume at each time, light goes off when your prepaid elapses even if there is light, always off your lights in the day, minimize the use of electric appliances especially boiler, hot plate and electric cooker.

Eight-year-old girl raped inside a cab in South Koltaka, India
